The Research Council has been formally established and today launches its official website at research.gov.vin, where its funded programmes, funding calls and standards of research integrity are published.

    Six funded programmes established on 6 September 2026, with 38 awards worth 25,000,000 credits held under them.

  • Applying for Funding

    Open Round 2026 opens on 21 September and closes on 13 November 2026. The fellowship call opens on 5 October.

    The awards made at establishment, their value by programme and by site, and the conditions that attach to them.

    Seven standards apply to all research funded by the Council. Concerns are received by the Integrity Office.

About the Council

The Research Council of the Velocity Interoperability Network is responsible for research programmes and research integrity across the Velocity Interoperability Network.

It funds research carried out by member organisations, administers the awards made under its programmes, requires the results of funded research to be openly available, and sets and upholds the standards of research integrity that apply to every researcher it funds.

Milestones

  1. 6 September 2026

    Council established

    Responsibility for research programmes and research integrity across the Network, with a Secretariat and three offices at Eastfield Campus.

  2. 6 September 2026

    research.gov.vin launched

    Press releases, the register of programmes and awards, guidance for applicants and the standards of research integrity published on the official website.

  3. 6 September 2026

    First round of programmes and first funding call confirmed

    Six programmes and 38 awards confirmed at establishment; Open Round 2026 announced, opening on 21 September and closing on 13 November 2026.

  4. Forthcoming

    Open Round 2026 outcomes and the first integrity report

    Outcomes of Open Round 2026 will be notified in February 2027, and the Council's first annual report on research integrity will be published in the first quarter of 2027.
