Research Council Confirms First Round of Funded Programmes
Office of the Spokesperson

The Research Council of the Velocity Interoperability Network today confirmed its first round of funded programmes. Six programmes were established at the point of establishment: the Interoperability Standards Programme, the Network Resilience Programme, the Data Stewardship Programme, the Materials and Infrastructure Programme, the Health and Environment Programme, and the Early Career Fellowships.
Under the six programmes, 38 awards worth 25,000,000 credits in total were confirmed. The awards consolidate research that member organisations were already funding separately before the Council existed, together with commitments transferred to the Council during the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026. The awards are held by twelve member organisations and support 146 researchers at five sites of the Network.
Each award has been reviewed by the Programmes Office against the conditions of award that now apply to all Council funding, including the Council's open research requirements and its standards of research integrity. Award holders have been notified of their award reference and the schedule of payments, which begin in October 2026.
The programmes, the awards held under each and the conditions that attach to them are set out on the Programmes and Awards pages of this site. Enquiries from award holders may be sent to contact@research.gov.vin.
