Research Council Publishes Standards of Research Integrity

The Research Council of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published its standards of research integrity. The seven standards, covering honesty, rigour, transparency, care and respect, accountability, independence and the proper handling of data and records, apply from today to all research funded by the Council and to every researcher working under a Council award.

The standards are upheld by the Council's Integrity Office, which receives concerns about research funded by the Council, carries out a preliminary assessment of each concern and, where the concern is within scope and supported by evidence, convenes an investigation panel. The procedure, including the matters that fall within it and the time limits at each stage, is published in full on the Research Integrity page of this site.

Member organisations holding Council awards are required to name a research integrity officer by 2 October 2026 and to report annually to the Council on the concerns they have received and how they were resolved. The Council will publish its first annual report on research integrity, covering the period to 31 December 2026, in the first quarter of 2027.
