Research Council Announces Open Round 2026 Funding Call
Office of the Spokesperson
The Research Council of the Velocity Interoperability Network today announced its first open funding call. Open Round 2026 opens for proposals on Monday 21 September 2026 and closes at 17:00 on Friday 13 November 2026. Up to 12,000,000 credits are available across the Interoperability Standards, Network Resilience, Data Stewardship, Materials and Infrastructure, and Health and Environment Programmes, for awards of between one and four years.
A separate call for Early Career Fellowships opens on Monday 5 October 2026 and closes on Friday 27 November 2026. Up to six three-year fellowships will be awarded to researchers within five years of their doctorate who are employed by, or have an offer of employment from, a member organisation of the Network.
Proposals may be submitted by any member organisation of the Network on behalf of a named principal investigator. Applicants are asked to register an intention to apply by email at least three weeks before the closing date so that the Programmes Office can assign reviewers in good time. Proposals are assessed by peer review and by a programme panel, and outcomes will be notified by email in February 2027 for Open Round 2026 and in March 2027 for the fellowships.
Eligibility, the documents required and the steps from intention to apply to award agreement are set out on the Applying for Funding page of this site. Questions about the call may be sent to contact@research.gov.vin.
